About the Department of Islamic Studies

The Department of Islamic Studies was established in 1371 (1992) as the Department of Theology and Islamic Studies. One of its responsibilities is to provide general courses in Islamic studies for all students. Later, in 1380 (2001), in line with the policy of the deputy professors of Islamic studies, the representative body of the Supreme Leader became independent under the title of Islamic Studies Department and continues to operate as a scientific-cultural group.

Over time, and with the scientific growth of societies, scientific needs also increase. The emergence of new questions demands scientific answers and deeper exploration.

The aim of establishing the department is to familiarize the young generation with religious ideas, ethics, Islamic history, and contemporary history, as well as to confront extremist thoughts and ideas. It also aims to acquaint students with the theoretical foundations of Islam and the Islamic Revolution, and to introduce them to the Qur'an. Additionally, the group aims to select and recruit capable professors for teaching within the department.
